Come on a journey with us.
We are Kaitlyn and Gordon. Two adventurers from Brisbane, Australia.
The Kadon Experience is a mashup of not only our names, but our collective experience(s).
From idea to execution, we share the journey.
Who are we?
Hi I’m Kaitlyn!
I am very new to the world of blogging and content creation but I am very excited to dive into it and give it my best go. Ever since I can remember I loved photos and I’ve always wanted to be in front of the camera. Now this is quite amusing since I’m also pretty shy... well shy until you get to know me and then good luck trying to get me to be quiet!
I’m a Brisi girl and have lived there my whole life. It wasn’t until recently that Gordon and I decided to leave the city life behind for a coastal lifestyle. The last 6 months we have the the privilege of soaking up the sun and enjoying the outdoors on the Sunshine Coast in Noosa Heads. The decision to make the move was a big one but an easy one. Both of us have always wanted to live on the coast and were both were craving a change in lifestyle. I have explored many different industries since leaving school, from teacher assisting, being a carer, working with skincare and make-up, to retail and having an office job which I’m still currently in. I have recently started study allowing me to gain more skills within finance, where hopefully one day these skills will help me achieve one of my dreams of running my own business.
Growing up our family holidays were always on the coast, summer was my absolute favourite time of year. Being a family of swimmers and my mum being a swim teacher, my siblings and I literally grew up in the water. I swear that the first 10 years of my life I spent more time in the water than I did on land. I have always loved my sports and have always had an active lifestyle. Like my dad I enjoy adventuring the outdoors and am eager to give things a go. I have a passion for travel and have been lucky to explore up and down the East Coast of Australia, take a trip overseas to Europe, Thailand and Fiji. I also spent 6 months in UK back in 2019 and am dreaming of the day we can go back and explore many many more places around the world. I have a very extensive list!
I’ve always wanted to capture life through the lens. I never thought I would ever be able to explore doing something like blogging, having a website and sharing content on social media. But here we are, and who knows where this will take us. Wherever this journey leads to I’m so excited to document our adventures and share these memories with loved ones and those who are on a similar journey who also share the same interests as we do as we explore the world we live in.
Hi I’m Gordon!
I’m originally from South Africa, but have been living in Australia now for almost 20 years (jeezz where has the time gone) and sprinkled in there I lived in New Zealand for about 5 years.
I’m a Quantity Surveyor by trade and avid explorer on the side. I’ve been lucky enough that my job has taken me to some interesting spots around Australia and New Zealand while also being able to fund my more global adventures.
I’m passionate about everything that entails the greater outdoors and hopefully our stories will show case this.
Similarly to Kaitlyn, I’m pretty new to this as well. For years I’ve taken pictures and videos with the intention of doing something with them, but they’ve never gone no further than the archives of my camera or external hardrive. I also didn’t really know what to ‘do’ with them.
It’s 2021 and I’m on a camping adventure with some friends. I’m busy building the fire, prepping it to cook dinner on, and at the same time trying to get a slow-mo vid of the flames on my phone. As is usual on these trips I get a bit heckled for my videography attempts, but, the line of conversation traverses towards people’s ideal jobs.
I pipe up and say I’d love to blog, vlog or write about the great outdoors as a living, but unsure where to begin yet to make a living out of it.
Long story short and after a few cold ones the conversation ended up with me trying to apply for an ‘outdoorsy’ website’s editor’s position. Obviously I didn’t get it, not even a response (probably due to the position being a bit out of my experience’s league…) and I thought stuff it - I’ll start my own.
THIS IS WHERE IT ALL BEGINS.
