Charlie Moreland Camping Area
An absolute gem not far from Kenilworth.
Firepits, river and flushing toilets. The spot for all friends and family.
I feel like Charlie Moreland is going to be quite a popular spot with us and I can see why it’s well spoken of by those who have been before.
Nestled in-between the Imbil State Forrest and Conondale National Park, with Kenilworth, Cambroon and Maleny not too far - you could almost say it’s in the heart of the hinterland camping area (self-titled area from D’Aguilar National Park up to Amamoor - a lot of inland/rural camping spots).
Besides it’s picturesque spot the campground is on the doorstep to some epic 4wding trails - which we have explored extensively over the recent weeks. These tracks range from reasonably graded gravel road (Sunday Creek Road - which is a nice off the beaten track that takes you all the way to Jimna) to some pretty hectic sh@t! Would recommend at a minimum a 4wd to do these.
To be quite honest, we spent most of our time driving the time we had booked in here (blame the weather and our keenness to get some cars dirty). But from the little time we did have in camp it was super tranquil. Awesome swimming hole to dive into the river / creek thing that we used to freshen and wake up with a couple of times. There are also well maintained and flushing toilets plus space aplenty - bit of a caveat here though - I can imagine it would get quite tight and cramped on a long holiday weekend or over a holiday period because there are no designated camp sites.
All in all I would recommend. I think we’ll probably head back there before the summer is out, maybe even in winter and get to know the spot a bit better!
